aldershot - Round 8 27/06/2010

Our first long distance race meeting, and the first where it would be just me and Lorna.

An early start down the M40 and already the temperature was shooting up, it was to be one of the hottest days of the year! We made good time and actually arrived first at the track, shortly followed by Paul Patrick #17

A quick practice sesson confirmed what I'd been told - this was to be a track totally unlike those I'd raced on before, very fast with sweeping bends and almost no straights. Not feeling too confident on such a quick track I elected to start from the back.

The track some took getting used to, and my aim was to keep out of trouble and finish all the races. Despite being a little off the pace in the final, which was very fast, I achieved my aims and had another great meeting, another huge learning experience - both on and off the track.

And, as an unexpected bonus, it meant we missed England's diabolical performance against Germany in the World Cup!
